Another year had passed and it was Chrstmas time again... We spent our Christmas with Rianer’s parents and sister in Herdecke in North Rhine- Westphalia, as we did last year.
Quiet and relaxed family Christmas holidays as usual.
Then we headed for Nessmersiel by the North Sea in order to celebrate the New Year’s Eve and welcome the year of 2007. During our one- week winter holiday in East-Frisia, we also did some excursions in the region. The highlight was a visit to Jever, where Rainer’s favourite beer comes from...! (See more...)
On Christmas Eve we decorated the Christmas tree together. It perfected the lovely atmosphere of the entire flat of Rainer’s parents full of tasteful Christmas decorations.
Chatting over some good wine after the traditional oil fondue dinner on Christmas Eve.
After two afternoon tea with relatives, we drove north again to Nessmersiel, where we stayed over the New Year period...
Nessmersiel
On 27 December we arrived in Nessmersiel. The village was still absolutely in the Christmas mood. We found the floating Christmas tree put up in the middle of a little lake particularly interesting. It looked fantastic at night when lit up, but rather funny during the day as you could see the ropes tied between the tree and the poles on the shore. We stayed in the family’s small but cute holiday house, which had been also nicely decorated by Rainer’s mother.
