After a bit more than two hours of trip with ordinary train service, we arrived in Ohiradai, one of many little onsen villages in the Hakone area. Everything covered with snow, it was so different from Tokyo and despite the coldness we found it somehow pleasantly tranquil and peaceful...

We were warmly welcomed in our small and cozy Ryokan, where we throughly enjoyed the open-air natural hot bath, the onsen, and indulged ourselves with lovely meals, which were served in our own room.

paralysed local bus services but also caused most of tourist attractions and museums closed, the sun finally appered on the day of our return to Tokyo. mountain slope with a breathtaking view and the Owakudani, where the hot sulphorous steam is escaping from the high underground pressure.
We had such a great day thanks to the cold but beautiful weather before returning to Tokyo in the evening.
